Spirit and Nature of the Land
This body of work is about man's interaction with the environment, both physically and spiritually. When we look at the amazing and complex wonders of this planet, it is easy to imagine how man's ancestors came to create gods in honour of its creatures, in an attempt at coming to terms with the struggles of surviving often harsh environments. Some people still have a deep symbolic bond with the environment through their culture and I personally find the bush a place of refuge, of peace, a spiritual experience similar to what we feel when we walk into a large cathedral.
No one can dispute the feeling of awe, when you walking into the bush with the huge canopy of trees closing overhead surrounded by fresh healthy smells and sounds of the bush, or at night the comforting presence of the canopy of the stars, with the familiar sight of the great southern cross. It is important to remember that even though we think we own the land to do with as we wish.We should be caring for it for future generations so that our children and grandchildren and all future generations can enjoy its wonders. In this technological age when we think we have conquered natural web life, we must accept we are still part of nature for nature still provides us with shelter, food and clothing.
If we took care not to waste food and resources, there would be enough in the world for every living thing, so I say to you, be aware of the suffering caused by the destruction of life and try to cultivate compassion in your heart. Learn ways to protect the lives of all living things and there for ourselves.
To look to the need for change in the way we grow our economies to beware of the consequence of climate change, the increase in bushfires, floods and extended droughts and all that will be to us and our economies
